AOC releases All-In-One Android PC with Remix OS
Android is pretty much limited to smartphones and tablets, you don’t get to see any Android personal computer anywhere. We have always wondered about playing out favorite mobile games on the PC through a keyboard and mice and to experience what it feels like. There are a few method as well, one that is quite well known and goes by the name BlueStacks. Now, what if we tell you that you can buy a computer, that will be running Android operating system. At least, a very tweaked version of it, that will support multi-window and multitasking processes.
AOC, a brand quite well know for their LCD and LED displays has partnered up with Jide to create an all-in-one personal computer which will be running Jide’s Remix OS. This device will be one of the first devices to be powered by the Remix operating system as it’s software. The all-in-one (AIO) computer will be aimed towards the enterprise market, it is something of a new venture for Android.
While it is something new, it is not the very first of its kind. AOC has itself made a few of these Android all-in-one personal computers. A Remix operating system based all-in-one personal computer is the new thing. It is a spin-off Android with elements of Windows or OS X to make it more familiar to desktop users who are used to movable, resizable windows, taskbars and peripheral support.
The Remix OS AIO is on display for the whole world at the CES Asia tradeshow in Shanghai. It features a 23.8 inch display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. It is powered by ARM processor, housed within the Amlogic S905 quad-core chipset. The CPU core are made up of four 2GHz Cortex-A53 processors and the graphics are powered by a 5-core Mali-450 GPU, which is clocked at 750MHz. The SOC is supported by 2GB of RAM, which makes it somewhat comparable to a decent smartphone. Storage will offer a choice between 16GB and 64GB of internal storage options. There is no news regarding any option to expand the storage, but we are hoping that they do think about it.
Even with smartphone like specifications, operations will be smooth like a breeze thanks to a very lightweight OS which is optimized well enough to create a smooth and blissful user experience. The PC will be able to churn out FullHD (1080p) to the 24 inch LCD display. With the help of the ARM processor and Mali GPU, it will also be able to decode ultra-high definition 4K videos. Users can connect external displays through the two HDMI ports provided along with four USB ports and an Ethernet jack, should you want to connect to a wired Internet connection. An array of input and output options allow you to connect a keyboard, mouse, external speakers or home theater system etc.
“We’re really excited about this partnership with Jide Technology and Remix OS because we believe the AIO will go far in bringing Android PCs to the enterprise market.” stated Ren Jingshun, AOC’s B2B General Manager.
The Remix OS AIO PC will be available for sale in China starting this June or July but no information regarding the pricing of the device has been released so far.
